Emerald Music Makes Its First Booth Appearance At “ThaiMai” Concert

The “ThaiMai: Contemporary Thai Works for Oboe & Piano” concert, held at the elegant Sala Sudasiri Sobha in Bangkok, offered an inspiring evening of contemporary Thai music that showcased new works by leading Thai composers and heartfelt performances by a remarkable lineup of musicians. Spearheaded by oboist Nuttha Kuankajorn, who curated the program and assembled an ensemble of outstanding talents, the event presented a powerful and nuanced evening of chamber music.

A notable highlight of the evening was a performance by Dr. Boonyarit Kittaweepitak on euphonium and pianist Morakot Cherdchoongarm, who also premiered one of his own compositions on the program. Their collaboration, following a previous performance together at IDRS 2023, received warm and enthusiastic reception from the audience.

The program featured works by renowned Thai composers including National Artist Dr. Narongrit Dhamabutra, Dr. Yos Vaneesorn, Dr. Akkra Yeunyonghattaporn, Dr. Bali Phongklad, and Morakot Cherdchoongarm himself. Each composition reflected the rich cultural tapestry and evolving voice of contemporary Thai classical music.

For the first time, Emerald Music Publications hosted an official booth in the concert foyer, offering audiences a closer look at its growing catalog of contemporary Thai works. The booth added a vibrant dimension to the evening, enabling attendees to engage with printed scores and explore the artistic ideas behind the music they had just heard.

This occasion marked not only a celebration of modern Thai classical music but also a significant step forward in connecting contemporary composers with performers, audiences, and the wider artistic community.
