Sonatine for Viola and Piano was commissioned by Miti Wisuthumporn. The work was premiered by Miti Wisuthumporn, violist, and Dr. Tarin Supprakorn, pianist, on June 6th, 2023, at the Music Auditorium, College of Music, Mahidol University (MACM), as part of the 48th International Viola Congress.

Sonatine originates as a compositional study aimed at experimenting with sonata traditions, including fugal development, alteration of recapitulation, flexibility of harmonic language and tonal structure, and cyclical unification. This work serves as a metaphor for the composer’s metamorphic approach, paralleling a semi- programmatic depiction of spiritual exploration. By challenging boundaries and integrating symbolic narrative, Sonatine for Viola and Piano invites a profound journey of self-discovery.
