WIWAT SUTHIYAM

Wiwat Suthiyam was born on 20th October 1989. He has studied piano since he was just 7 at Siam Kollakarn music academy. When he was 15, he won the 3rd prize at Yamaha. By the way, he entered this competition again and won the 2nd prize in the next year. However, he interested in composition skill when he was young. Then, he decided to enter undergraduate at Mahidol University College of music and study composition with prof. Valeriy Rizayev, and he was studying piano with Dr. Nopanand Chanorathaikul.

In 2011, he composed Cleopatra the musical for the stage. He attended a master class with famous composer such as Eric Ewazen, and performed the piece call “Himmaparn Suite”. He also won outstanding (distinguished prize) the competition Young Thai Artist Awards 2011 with a music composition title with “Prelude For Three Pomes”. A year later, he won the Grand prize in the same competition with the piece call “Le Scaphandre et le Papillon”.

 His music was influenced by the impressionist style. He emphasize with the color, timbre and orchestration with complex harmony and extended technique for create the gorgeous atmosphere. Moreover, he’s also interest in Asian and Thai traditional music and combine with western music instrument for discover many interesting sound of music.

 He joined the Thailand International Composition Festival, and received the commission from Mahidol Wind Orchestra, Tacet(i) Ensemble and Thailand Philharmonic Orchestra. Presently, he’s a private piano teacher, composer at SoundGood’s Piano Studio and also work with Princess Galyani Vadhana Institute of Music for arranger in resident.
